Ziwi Peak dog food review
Ziwi Peak dry food for dogs is manufactured in New Zealand by Ziwi Ltd. Official site – https://ziwipets.com/ (in English), there is information about the entire line of feed (formulations, recommended feeding rates, etc.). This feed can be classified as super premium or holistic.
The brand also produces canned food for dogs and Ziwi Peak dry food for cats.
Ziwi Peak feed composition
Let s get acquainted with the composition of the Ziwi Peak feed using the example of the Tripe & Lamb Recipe (Tripe and Lamb):

Lamb tripe, lamb, lamb heart, lamb liver, lamb lung, lamb kidney, New Zealand green mussels are all good sources of complete protein. Also, the liver is rich in vitamins and minerals, lamb (meaning lamb meat) – fats, and green mussels – glycosaminoglycans (good for joints).
Lamb bone is a source of calcium. According to the official website, green mussels are in the composition of 3%, and since the lamb bone comes after them, this ingredient is not more than 3%. Lecithin is a food additive (E322), used as an antioxidant, emulsifier, stabilizer, but also benefits the body (since it has a rich composition – phospholipids, polyunsaturated fatty acids and other substances).
Inulin from chicory is a prebiotic, good for digestion. Dried seaweed is a source of fiber, iodine and other nutrients. Minerals – food supplement of minerals. Salt – probably means common table salt, a source of sodium, partly a preservative and a flavoring agent.
Parsley is a source of fiber. Preservatives (citric acid, tocopherol mixture) – are necessary to prevent spoilage and increase the shelf life of the feed. Vitamins is a food supplement of vitamins.
Pros and cons
The advantages of the feed include:
- protein source – fresh meat and meat offal;
- natural preservatives are used (citric acid, a mixture of tocopherols);
- cereals are not used (there are no sources of carbohydrates in the feed at all, neither legumes, nor potatoes);
- in addition to dry food, there is canned food.
Disadvantages of feed:
- not widespread (for example, in Russia you can buy in stores that deliver goods from Poland);
- very high price (Ziwi Peak is several times more expensive than the most expensive feeds that we reviewed earlier).
It should also be noted that the feed has a high protein level and a very high fat level. And while ~ 36-38% protein is found in many other dog foods (for example, Orijen, Applaws, Isegrim, Riverwood), then 32% fat is almost double the typical values ??(15-18%). Ash is also usually less than 9%, and here it is up to 12%.
Is this good or bad? It is hard to say. The AAFCO guidelines state that adult dog food should have a minimum of 13.8% fat and no maximum. FEDIAF recommends a minimum of 8.5% fat, and no maximum is specified either.
Ziwi Peak dog food – reviews
Since food is not officially imported in Russia, and the price is also very high, it is not surprising that there are no reviews about it. We managed to find only one review five years ago on the Ukrainian forum. Also in social networks there are newer photo reports on the purchase of this feed (from foreign buyers).
Customer Reviews
Writes luxpet:
The usual Akana did not suit my Argentinean. Origen pappy large too ((((Be careful when choosing food. I tried to give food ZiwiPeak – here of course he has no equal in nature. It s like ordinary pieces of meat, only sliced ??thinly and dried. Seconds and no feed. Looks like real food is probably unrealistic, as well as the price (((

Conclusions about the feed “Zivi Peak”
Reviews about Ziwi Peak dog food are mostly positive (from foreign buyers), but there are also negative ones. The composition of the food is unusual, but it looks good. Therefore, the PetObzor website can recommend this feed, although the price for it seems unreasonably high.
