Your cat purrs too, do you know why she does that?

Anyone who has dealt with cats knows perfectly well how they can purr, but no one has been able to figure out how they do it. To this day, opinions on this matter are very divided and there is no definite answer, because it is not precisely defined which body is responsible for this. One of the main theories is that purring is caused by vibrations of the muscles in the larynx during inhalation and exhalation. The cat s purr makes his whole body vibrate gently. On the other hand, everyone agrees that cats purr when they interact with humans, because that s how they communicate with us.

Purring is considered by many to be the most popular feline contentment behavior.

A cat is one purring puzzle, so keep in mind that purring helps cats not only communicate with humans, but with each other as well. Breeders and owners of cats with kittens know this very well. As early as a few days after birth, when they are still deaf and blind, you can hear their purring signals, informing the mother cat that they are hungry or cold. They also purr as they suck on their mother s milk, and she does not remain in debt by sharing her purring, soothing power with them. Purring certainly gives them a sense of security, but it also strengthens the bond between them – during this critical time for them. Since purring has been found to have analgesic effects, it is understandable that a kitten also purrs during childbirth.

The purr of a cat can have different colors and shades depending on the content of the message that she wants to convey to us. The most popular reasons cats purr are contentment, stress, and ailments that bother them, but satisfaction is probably the most common reason for their purring. But remember that they also do this in times of suffering or even in death.

For cat owners, a pleasant purr is probably the best way to relieve stress and relax after a hard day. This unusual ability of cats has been observed for a very long time, and it is successfully used in feline therapy, the popularity of which is growing every year, gaining more and more followers around the world. The reason is a visible improvement in the mental and physical health of patients regardless of their age – whether they are small patients, that is, people in the fall of their lives. Benefits include reduced stress, improved well-being, and decreased feelings of loneliness. The healing effect of purring is used to regenerate bones, muscles and ligaments, it also improves adhesion and wound healing, and stabilizes heart rate and blood circulation in the brain. This low purring frequency in the 25 to 150 Hz range also improves so-called bone density.

But not only is touching effective, but also companionship of cats and observing their behavior. This method is being spread and implemented in social institutions, orphanages, rehabilitation centers, hospitals and hospices.

For a cat, one reason to start purring is hunger, and since it does so louder and more intensely with appropriate modulation, its sounds are a bit like a baby crying.

The cat may purr from pain or illness.

It has already been proven that the vibrations that occur during a cat s purr have a healing effect not only on a person, but also on themselves. We say then that they restore their health – through self-healing, which, in particular, has a beneficial effect. to regenerate the skeletal system, internal organs or improve their well-being.

A significant proportion of veterinarians confirm that with the necessary treatment, cats heal faster than dogs.

Some scientists claim that cat owners live 4-5 years longer than people who do not have cats, and the risk of heart attack is reduced by 40%. In addition, gentle cat claw scratching works in a similar way to the world famous acupuncture treatment.
