Review of MERA Pure Sensitive dog food
MERA Pure Sensitive dry food for dogs is produced by MERA Tiernahrung GmbH in Germany. Official site – https://mera-petfood.com (in English), it contains information about the entire line of feed (formulations, recommended feeding rates, etc.). This can be attributed to the super-premium class, or premium.
There are two more lines of MERA dog food – NATURE S EFFECT and Essential. The same company produces Mera Finest Fit and Country Taste cat food.
Composition of MERA Pure Sensitive feed
Let s get acquainted with the composition of the MERA Pure Sensitive food using the example of the Mini Lamb & Rice variant (for adult small breed dogs, with lamb and rice):

The first ingredient is rice (47.5%), a source of carbohydrates. Some other (grain-free) formulas use potatoes and potato starch instead of rice. The second ingredient is lamb meat protein * (21%, dehydrated), a source of protein. * Original lamb protein. Also further in composition there is vegetable protein – rice protein, pea protein.
Considering the percentage of “lamb protein”, most of the 23.5% protein indicated in the guaranteed analysis should be from this ingredient. What is important, because proteins of animal origin are better absorbed and richer in amino acid composition than plant proteins.
Lamb fat, sunflower oil, salmon fat are sources of fats and fatty acids. Beet chips, flaxseeds, lignocellulose are sources of fiber. Flax seeds are also rich in unsaturated fatty acids. Liver hydrolyzate is a natural flavoring agent.
Brewer s yeast – rich in B-group vitamins. Potassium chloride – potassium salt, is an emulsifier, safe. Sodium pantaphosphate – antioxidant, acidity regulator, stabilizer, approved for use in most countries. Sodium chloride is a common table salt, a source of sodium, partly a preservative and a flavoring agent. Inulin from chicory is a prebiotic that improves digestion.
The technological additives indicate “antioxidants”, without specifying which ones.
Pros and cons
The benefits of the feed include:
- the bulk of the protein is of animal origin;
- wheat, corn, gluten are not used;
- there are grain-free formulas, formulas with fresh meat and even based on insect protein;
- a good vitamin and mineral supplement.
The disadvantages can be considered:
- in the original lamb protein, but in translation “protein from meat” (if it is from meat – great, but if not only – I would like to know from which parts of the lamb);
- antioxidants used are not specified.

I have a pug, he has a very sensitive brewing. We have been feeding this food for more than four years. No allergies, he eats with pleasure. We alternate with food, which includes turkey and rice. The food has a convenient shape and size of biscuits. this is very important for me, because my dog ??has a flat muzzle and large biscuits are uncomfortable for her.
Ilya writes:
Advantages: High-quality food, composition, the dog eats with pleasure, no allergies. Zip clasp. Large volume of packaging. Large granules, which is important for medium-large breeds. Disadvantages: Somewhat pungent feed odor.
Excellent value for money. Previously fed by Orijen Puppy Large Breed, but it is constantly out of stock. I switched to Mera and have no regrets, and most importantly the dog is happy.
Olga writes:
I took it as a new source of protein for an animal with allergies, but in fact it included not only insects, but also a bird. Animals eat well, the smell is not pleasant, ordinary. Convenient packaging. Expensive for this line-up. Unfortunately, it didn’t help to solve our problem with allergies.
